The European Accessibility Act (EAA) is an EU directive (2019/882) that has applied to all member states since 28 June 2025. It requires digital products and services to be accessible to people with disabilities.
Who is affected?
- E-commerce and online shops
- Banking and financial services
- Telecommunications providers
- E-books and e-readers
- Passenger transport booking platforms
Does it apply to small businesses?
Microenterprises (fewer than 10 employees and less than €2 million annual turnover) are exempt from some obligations – but are not completely excluded from the EAA.
What are the consequences of non-compliance?
Market surveillance authorities can issue formal complaints and, as a last resort, prohibit the operation of non-compliant services. A11yBridge helps you identify and fix issues before that happens.
