How does automatic alt text generation work?

Alt text describes images for screen readers and search engines. Missing alt text is a WCAG violation. A11yBridge solves this automatically using AI.

How it works

  1. A11yBridge identifies images on your pages that are missing alt text.
  2. The image is securely sent to the A11yBridge AI API.
  3. The AI analyzes the image and generates a precise, descriptive alt text.
  4. The text is automatically saved in your WordPress Media Library.

Can I edit the generated alt text?

Yes. All AI-generated alt texts are tagged with a small “AI” label and can be edited at any time under Media → Library. You always stay in full control.

Which images are processed?

By default, A11yBridge processes images on published pages and posts. Decorative images (e.g., background graphics) are automatically detected and skipped.
