If automatic alt text generation is not working, work through these steps one by one:
1. Check the API connection
Go to A11yBridge → Settings → API and check the connection status. A red indicator means no connection – verify your internet connection and check whether a security plugin is blocking outbound traffic.
2. Are the images already marked as decorative?
A11yBridge only generates alt text for images where the alt attribute is truly empty. If an image already has alt="" set in the HTML, it is treated as decorative and skipped.
3. Trigger a fresh scan
Go to A11yBridge → Scan Now and manually restart the scan. Then check the report to see whether new alt texts have been generated.
